Maddy received a very unexpected and very adorable gift for Christmas.
A couple of months ago my grandma came across some snow boots at a garage sale. They were bright pink and purple and only a couple of bucks so we snatched them up. Since then Maddy has worn those boots pretty much everywhere with pretty much any outfit.
She even wore them to the family gathering on Christmas afternoon. As we walked into the house to see everyone my dad, who had met us out at the car to help us bring everything in, took notice of her wearing her boots and then said something about like “just wait it’s going to be awesome.” I shook my head and did the thing all children do when their parents say something they don’t quite understand. I promptly forgot whatever he had said.
Later that evening while opening presents Maddy opened a box from my parents and suddenly the comment from my dad made sense.
In the box was a bright pink pair of cowgirl boots. Something that I would never in a million years have thought to buy Maddy, but something I am honestly in love with. Maddy is in love with them too.
The morning after Christmas she woke up and put them on instead of slippers.
She has worn them practically every day since. Pants, dresses, skirts, and leggings. It doesn’t matter the outfit cowgirl boots are obviously the most appropriate shoe. I think this is adorable. And sort of true because with all those colors on the boot what doesn’t match them?
I also think this obsession is wonderful for a purely selfish reason. After all, her cowgirl boots are the easiest shoe for her to get on and off therefore requiring almost no effort me when I say “Maddy, get some shoes on so we can go …”
These boots match my little wild girls personality to a T. They are so perfectly Maddy. Adorable, colorful, and fun.
One a side note, I owe you an apology. I never told you what I decided about my boot dilemma. It was rude of me to leave you hanging, but I'[ve been so busy wearing my cute boots all over town I forgot to tell you which ones I chose. Drum roll please….
I chose the darker pair. I love them. I wear them all the time. In fact I’m wearing them as I type this. Maddy and I make quite the boot wearing pair. In our opinion, our boots were made for more than just walking. They were made for everything.
