Today is Madeline’s half birthday. 2 1/2 years ago today we were welcoming her into the world.
This little fact popped into my head yesterday and as a result I have been thinking nonstop about baking. Okay really I think about baking nonstop anyway but in the last 24 hours or so with good reason.
I’ve been thinking about celebrating Maddy’s half birthday today with maybe a small batch of rainbow cupcakes, some candles and maybe a little singing. I can’t take credit for the idea of celebrating half birthday’s, although I wish I could.
I shared the idea with Luke and he thought I was crazy, however, Luke thinking I am crazy is nothing new. Luke may not have much of a sweet tooth, but I do have something on my side, my little girl has got her daddy wrapped around her finger and as a result he’ll do just about anything to see her smile, or take a picture of her, or see her smile while taking a picture of her.
So I think I have some baking in my future. After all, it is more than okay to celebrate your children and make them feel extra extra special on any darn day you want. Why not celebrate Madeline with a mid-year reminder that I am oh-so-very thankful for her birth.
Now I just need to get Luke on board with this so that I have frequent reasons to bake, ahem, I mean celebrate the special people in my life.

Happy half birthday to Maddy! We celebrated today with story time at the library (our first time), the pet store and doggie day care, and lunch at the park..followed by a little sliding. Hope you girls are having a happy 1/2 birthday too!
Aww…so cute! Happy half birthday. We celebrated our cat's birthday with a cake and all when B was 4 because he was really into it. The things you do for your kids.
Love that picture of icing – and I can't wait to see those cupcakes!
Sounds like a good idea to me
