Bread Challenge Week 19
I stumbled on a recipe for Asiago Herb and Garlic Bread at Foodie with Family, while looking for a quick recipe for garlic bread sticks this last week. Upon finding it I thought to myself,
Bread.
Cheese.
Bread.
Cheese.
Cheese bread.
Yes!
Most of the time it takes to make this bread is spent in the oven. The rise time is a quick 15 minutes and then rest of the rising happens in the oven while the oven heats. Perfect for making a quick dinner bread.
This bread smells awesome while baking and it comes out with a nice golden crusty top from the layer of baked on asiago cheese. The flavor was nice but a little to herb heavy. However, the garlic and asiago are perfect. The flavors of this bread went perfectly with the big pan of baked ziti and meatballs that we had for dinner.
This recipe makes 2 loaves and freezes well. I think this bread would be tasty with eggs over easy and was great with pasta but I’m not sure if it would do well as something other than a side. I’m not thinking you’ll be getting a dinner side dish and the next days sandwich bread from this loaf it is yummy and I think it would be good with any number of herbs, cheeses or extra ingredients. I’m thinking cheddar garlic and jalapenos. The recipe is easy to follow and includes pictures of most steps so it would be great for a beginner to follow. We’ll be making this bread again, after all it is cheese and bread all in one.
