This was Delaney 3 months ago. 7 pounds 5 ounces of tiny little baby. Somehow it seems like it was yesterday while simultaneously feeling so far away.
Today Delaney is 3 months-old. My baby is 3 months old. A lot has happened in 3 months the most remarkable of which is Delaney’s change from chubby cheeked little lump of newborn sweetness into an even chubbier cheeked interactive baby. She is alert and aware and oh so happy to see you.
Delaney is sleeping through the night. She is growing faster than seems possible and I’ve had to pack away the tiny newborn clothes, the 0-3 months clothes and some 3 month clothes to make room for clothes that I really didn’t think I would see until later in the fall. Her cheeks are delicious and I can’t help but kiss them over and over. Her plump fingers are becoming more and more tasty to her and I wouldn’t be surprised if we had another thumb lover in the near future. Well, I wouldn’t be surprised because Luke and I fully encourage and support the idea of her sucking her thumb. Thumbs are way easier than pacifiers. For now she is happy to hang out and soak in the things going on around her, watching and listening closely. She’s probably just trying to figure out how to keep up with her busy, busy, busy sister.
The most wonderful part of this getting bigger, older and more interactive business? This delightful girl smiles like it’s her full-time job. And one look at that smile makes this mommy happy beyond words. I can’t wait to see what she delights us with next.
