Maddy has this ceramic parrot with an eye patch and pirate hat. She painted it at a little paint your own pottery place here in town. We were actually there to paint something for her Nana’s birthday but she insisted on painting that parrot too and well we were having fun so Luke and I let her have her parrot and paint it too.
Well the other day she broke her parrot. Its little head came off right at the neck. I can’t say I’m surprised really. I’ve learned, as a general rule, 3 year old children and things that are remotely breakable do not mix, and should not mix.
Last night I came upon what looked to be the body of a ceramic parrot with fake flowers sticking from it’s neck. An interesting use for a decapitated bird figurine.
This morning I found our pirate parrot friend’s body holding a kid-sized drum stick.
I’m sensing a pattern here. The pattern is that this pirate parrot has a second life as, well, anything really. Even a pen holder.
He was a cute little parrot with his cute little eye patch and his cute little hat, but honestly now he is much more functional. Besides I like have a parrot head living on my entry way table and who wouldn’t want that. Especially when the parrot body is traveling around my house preforming odd jobs.
