With the whirlwind of buying a new home, selling our current home, pregnancy and preparing for a baby I find myself daydreaming about a relaxing night I spent at Devil’s Thumb Ranch last fall. Delicious food, fun friends, relaxing spa time, yoga overlooking a beautiful view, a fun and educational cooking class and time to myself in front of the fireplace or in the huge tub in my cozy room.
As Valentine’s day nears I’m reminded how much I would like to bring Luke to Devil’s Thumb Ranch for a weekend getaway. Maybe a hike together, a romantic meal, a couples massage, and relaxation in a cozy room with a view of snow capped mountains. It sounds delightful. Especially since in just a handful of months we’ll be back in the land of not sleeping through the night.
What’s that saying again? I’m sure it’s something like Devil’s Thumb, take me away!
During my visit to Devil’s Thumb Ranch I got the chance to experience several wonderful bits of relaxation and fun, but one of my favorites was the cooking class led by Executive Chef Evan Treadwell. I learned a bunch and had great food related conversation all followed up by a lovely 3 course meal with delicious wine pairings.
I would be lying if I said this years scheduled cooking classes aren’t screaming my name. Because truthfully every single one appeals to me, especially when I know Chef Evan and his team work hard to source local and/or sustainable ingredients for all the cooking Devil’s Thumb Ranch does including the cooking classes. If you are looking to relax a little and maybe brush up on some new menus or techniques these cooking classes with 3 course meal and wine pairings are a fun idea. Maybe you could even follow up your cooking class with a trip to the spa?
The Devil’s Thumb 2012 Cooking Class lineup includes:
Winter Feast – January 30
Leap Year Celebration – February 29
Spring Small Plates – March 29
Perfect Pastries – April 26
Grill Sargeant – May 24
From the Garden & Farmer’s Market – June 28
Fall Feast – September 27
Pairing Beer – October 25
Holiday Favorites – November 15
I highly suggest Devil’s Thumb Ranch. Even if the beautiful Colorado mountain setting, delicious food, sustainable practices, relaxing spa and perfectly decorated rooms aren’t enough to capture your heart the horseback riding, hiking, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, fly fishing, yoga and cooking classes will. It captured mine and now all I want is another stay with some delicious food and lots of relaxation.
*My stay at Devil’s Thumb Ranch was hosted free of charge. The above opinions are mine and are in no way influenced by any outside party.*

Devil’s Thumb Ranch was fabulous! All that you said and more… and the food, well, the food was to die for. 😉
This was SUCH an amazing trip, and the company was pretty incredible too!
I was so sad to miss this trip with all of you. Devil’s Thumb Ranch is on my short list of staycations in the beautiful state we live after seeing all your photos and hearing about all the wonderful things they offer guests. I’ve sent my share of people wanting to rekindle romance or begin their lives with a memorable wedding!
Sounds like heaven!!
Cara, it would make for a great Colorado staycation.
