What in your life consistently brings you joy? Food makes me happy. Not just eating it, but preparing it, shopping for it and reading recipes in cookbook after cookbook too. I like imagining what things will taste like. I like the way beautiful food looks on my plate just before I take my first bite. I love trying new things and branching out to new flavors.
A perfect tomato is a work of art. The smell of freshly baked bread is dreamy. I can always count on a trip to the farmer’s market or an afternoon spent baking for a Mountain High Moment. A moment where happiness reigns, my spirits seem to be a mountain high and all seems right in the world.
I know that while there are people who get the same pleasure from food as I do, there are just as many who would happily never enter their kitchen, grocery store, or farmer’s market again and that is okay. I may not agree but I know it is possible. I’m sure they have something that brings them Mountain High Moments too. Maybe a hike sends their spirit soaring. It’s possible crafting a beautiful quilt or hitting a home run.
My most recent Mountain High Moment found me in my new kitchen making a surprise breakfast for my family. The early morning light shined through my lovely kitchen windows and while I mixed the batter and readied the waffle maker I felt so uplifted and at piece. No matter what bumps I have as a parent food always brings my family together. That morning we shared a breakfast of waffles, eggs, bacon and love. It was just what my heart needed. I felt a full Mountain high. The frustrations of the day before vanished with the sunrise and armed with a pile of fresh waffles and toppings ranging from peanut butter to maple syrup to yoghurt and berries we spent the morning smiling, laughing and loving each other.
What brings you your Mountain High Moments? When was your last Mountain High Moment?
I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Mountain High Yoghurt. I received a gift card to purchase yogurt, a product kit, and a promotional item to thank me for participating.

I totally understand this post. Food makes me happy. My love is so much more than just eating. It’s preparing it, learning about it, feeding people I love.
Just one more reason we get along so well, Jen. It is amazing how many facets there are to loving food.
Catherine,
My Mountain high moments are time spent with my kids.
I relley love having full conversations in my kitchen. There is nothing better for the soul.
I also fully loved spending time with my daughter and her friends on Sunday. The girls have become such great ladies.
If that is not enough I love spending any time with my husband he is my world.
Donna
I agree, kitchen conversations are the best!
I used to hate cooking, but have grown to love it – I have to agree with you there! I think the point of any “moment” is to take joy in the little things, eh?
Dang, girl. I really wish we lived closer so that I could mooch off hang out with you. I bet you create lots of Mountain High moments for those around you.
I get my Mountain High moments from yoga. Endorphins!
Hearing my son say a new word is my Mountain High moment! With his autism and speech apraxia, the entire family jumps for joy when he learns a new one!
Now THAT is a Mountain High moment!
That breakfast sounds SO GOOD. I have the occasional Mountain High Moment from cooking, but mostly from others cooking for me. Ha!
I don’t blame you for that. In fact I think I would enjoy someone else doing the cooking too, but that doesn’t happen as often for me.
I definitely enjoy eating and shopping! The cooking… well, it depends. My favorite moments lately have been watching my kids get passionate about things – whatever it is – legos, soccer, drama, barbies – it’s fun to see their faces light up, preferences develop, etc.
Reading your post, I can almost smell the breakfast cooking. It sounds like it was the perfect morning. I have a Mountain High Moment anytime I am outside playing with my children.
