5 little reasons I love getting to the gym early in the morning.
I have been working on changing my pattern from night owl to early bird in the last month or so. Thus far I love it. One reason, is getting my work outs taken care of in the morning. There are dozens of reasons that people work out in the morning, here are five of mine.
1. The other people at the gym in the wee hours of the morning are there to get their workout done and get on their way, not to socialize, primp in the mirrored walls and oogle each other. I love that it feels less like a fashion show and more like a gym.
2. I like getting my workout, shower, and breakfast in before anyone else in the house is up. It makes it feel like I have a jump start on the day.
3. I feel more focused in my morning workouts and as a result I have been able to push myself harder, because I know there is a time limit and I have to get home by a certain time so that Luke can go to work.
4. A morning workout helps keep my eating in line throughout the day. I seem to naturally gravitate towards healthier foods on days when I’ve worked out first thing. I have also noticed that I drink more water through the day too. Win-win, right?
5. If I hit the gym early on Saturday and Sunday there is almost no one there which means I have the ability to move from freely from area to area without having to wait for weights, cardio machines or floor mats. Sweet!
and a bonus reason I like working out in the morning…
I can indulge in a glass of wine with dinner every once in a while because I not just arriving home from the gym or just about to head out to the gym.
See dragging my sleepy booty out of bed in the morning is so so worth it, on so many levels.

1.I have certainly met nicer people in the morning, the kind who are happy to just smile and say hello and not bother you.
2. There is always a machine free.
3. I have no scheduling conflicts at 5 a.m.
4. I love to work out on an empty stomach.
Working out at night always gets in the way of dinner, either I am making us eat dinner way later or I'm heading to the gym with a full stomach…which I hate.
My biggest problem is Cookie, she is up at 6 a.m…..so there is no hope unless I want to go at 4 a.m. But, I would love to go early early….lately I have been trying to go when my little cupcake naps and take Cookie with me to the daycare at about 9a.m….but it is sooo busy by then
I have to get up at around 5 and head to the gym to workout before Maddy gets up. I open the garage every day hoping that it won't wake her up, but if she did then Luke would just take care of her.
You inspire me. I'd love to change my work out time. I often fantasize about waking up before everyone else and coming home with energy and smiles! Not sure I can pull it off. Cause no matter how hard I try 10:30 is the earliest I can manage to get to bed.
Another benefit I've found of working out in the early morning is that by the time I'm semi-awake, I'm already half-way done with my workout. Nothing like doing some dead lifts when only semi-coherent…
Last year, I was training for a marathon and I was GREAT about getting up early and working out. But this year has been really tough. One day of sleeping in, led to a week and then, a month. And now I'm a sloth.
But now that I've read your post, I can strongly recall that awesome feeling of running while watching the sun come up and returning home, just as everyone was climbing out of bed. And it always felt like I'd just conquered the WORLD.
Huh. I might have just found the inspiration I've been so desperately lacking… 🙂
