Except that is a lie because I got so much more than that.
Today is my birthday.
27.
Luke has teased me all day that now I’m really his old lady. I have reminded him all day that I am only just catching up to him in age, so if one of us is old it is him. In reality we both know we are the farthest thing from old, but life isn’t fun if you can’t continuously tease your spouse.
On the anniversary of my birth I got…
Numerous reminders on Facebook that I am loved. There really is nothing like combining Facebook and a birthday to pump up this ladies self esteem.
A lovely “Birthday Song” duet preformed by Maddy and Luke while I was still in bed followed by a card filled with Maddy’s adorable 3 year old scribbles and Luke’s adorable 27 year old scribbles professing their love for me.
A dozen red roses from one of my most beautiful friends.
A long call from my sister, who also happens to be on my list of very favorite people.
Dinner prepared and all the dishes done without having to lift a finger. Seriously Luke even put the pork chops in marinade this morning.
Drinks and entertainment. While Luke worked on dinner and Maddy practiced texting (I wish I were kidding but I’m not), I was served a nice glass of pinot noir and left to myself to tweet as I wished.
A meal filled with my almost 3 year old using her manners. Not once did she forget a please, thank you, excuse me, or your welcome. Lovely.
A Mockingjay. Actually the Mockingjay. Luke told me that he special ordered the book I have been waiting to be published since January. Even after he already got me the Nike + iPod kit for my iPod so I can track my runs more easily.
Cupcakes. Blueberry Lemon cupcakes. Blueberry lemon cupcakes from a delightful piece of heaven our town also know as a cupcakery. So good. My husband knows me well.
I also woke up with a sore throat and progressively got achy and more blah as the day went on, but I’m not letting it ruin my birthday. It has been too good to let feeling like my joints might be seizing up and my glands are going to explode out of my throat get in the way of my celebration. So you see I got way more than a sore throat. I got so. much. love.

and you deserved everything you got, except the sore throat.
I am sure the wine soothed it though.
You are an awesome friend and Mommy#2 to Boo.
